doing it
Posted: April 15th, 2009 | Author: jon | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: advice, meta | Commentshere’s a response to a post that i came across on a weight loss forum, from someone who had “tried everything…the last product i tried didn’t work because of…[such and thus]. any advice?”
[now, the below doesn't take into account that obviously certain foods work better than others as well, but is fundamental advice for someone to just freaking get going and quit looking for a gimmick]
first things first
a product won’t do the trick
either you’ll run out of money to buy the product, the product will kill you, or you’ll be reliant on the product. (i’m not saying it cannot *help*, but it won’t do it).
take in fewer calories than you burn.
find out how much you burn in a day, take in less than that. if you find yourself not able to exercise self-control in the eating arena, exercise, so you can take in more calories ;-) for the most part, it really does boil down to simple mathematics.

is a nifty little tool that you may find helpful.
add to this some patience (taking off 100 safely is a 1.5 year effort if you’re doing stellar, i’d say) and you have yourself a plan.
this site has tools to help you count your calories (it’s my view that after you’re counting them for a while you become more aware, and get to the point where you can fudge it and get results).
if you don’t think you “have the time” to be disciplined and aware and all that, i’m not sure what else to say to you; you’ve made your decision.
be aware
finish well
:)
